Women In South Florida Tech You Need To Know
The Miami tech movement wouldn't exist without the women who helped put the region on the map. That could help South Florida's tech ecosystem stand out from larger hubs, where women founders and businesses have historically been underrepresented among tech workers and corporate leadership teams. The tri-county area is already home to several female founders, entrepreneurs, investors, nonprofit leaders who are leading the charge to transform the region's innovation economy. Honorees include eMerge Americas President Melissa Medina, aire ventures President Leigh-Ann Buchanan, Web3 Equity CEO Michelle Abbs, and many more amazing women.

Miami-Based Startup Spindl Aims To Find Where Web3 Users Come From
When web surfers cross between the mainstream internet’s centralized giants such as Google and Facebook and crypto’s wild world of decentralized finance and non-fungible tokens, a new startup called Spindl wants to know. The Miami-based company is trying to rebuild for Web3 a fundamental piece of Web2’s e-commerce back end. That piece is called “web attribution,” and it’s how internet businesses track where their customers came from – and create user acquisition strategies to get more. Spindl “measures the funnel” of Discord posts, Reddit forums, ad impressions and other blue links that help people navigate the internet; it then pairs this data with on-chain behaviors such as buying, selling and trading to create profiles that help protocols understand where the traffic comes from.

Furthering Data Privacy Mission, Uska Acquires Redact, Releases App
Just a month after announcing a $1.8 million funding round, Juha Mikkola, founder and CEO of Usko Privacy, has already made an acquisition and released the Usko app. Usko’s mission is to help consumers make smarter purchases and understand how they’re spending their money with features like expenditure projections and an inflation dashboard – all without compromising their data privacy. It is the only free consumer-facing platform that shows users their spending habits on Amazon, and the startup plans to add other retailers and banks. Ultimately, the Miami-based startup will allow users to opt in to receive crypto tokens in exchange for sharing purchase information with advertisers – but on their own terms.

Biller Genie Raises $5M After Banner Year That Saw Subscribers Triple
Biller Genie has its sights set on expansion after securing $5 million in a series A investment round led by Henry Helgeson, the founder and CEO of Boston-based fintech Cayan. The funding round comes a year after the Miami-based company, a cloud-based electric invoicing platform for businesses, raised a $3.5 million seed round also backed by Helgeson. Since then, Biller Genie reports it has tripled its subscribers and referral partners to 1,500 and 200, respectively. The company reports it also tripled its revenue, but declined to provide the dollar amount. According to the company, its subscribers get paid up to 15 days faster and experience a 40% reduction in overdue invoices. Biller Genie currently manages $3 billion in annual invoice volume, according to a news release.

Blink Charging Considering South Florida For Electric Vehicle Charger Factory
Blink Charging could bring an electric vehicle charging station factory to South Florida. The Miami Beach company is scouting locations for a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that will be staffed by an estimated 300 workers. Blink Charging, an EV charging station provider, retained real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield for the search and has narrowed the site selection to Florida, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina. The planned facility will produce at least 50,000 EV chargers a year. Blink operates thousands of charging stations across the U.S., including South Florida locations such as Brickell City Centre in Miami's Brickell Financial District and Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach. It entered the manufacturing side of the business in June after acquiring SemaConnect for $200 million.
