South Florida Is A Leader For Tech Job Posting Growth So Far In 2022

South Florida was among the nation's leaders for the growth of tech job postings in the first half of the year, according to the recently released Dice Tech Job Report. Even as layoffs hit the tech industry, the report noted demand for tech talent remains high. The report looked at 3 million tech job postings from January to June of this year. Though South Florida was among the top metro areas for growth in job postings, it ranked 20th among regions with the most overall tech job postings. New York, Chicago and Atlanta took the top three spots, respectively.

Lending Platform Boopos Scores $58M In Series A Funding

For small businesses, securing a loan at the right time can be make or break. Miami-based Boopos is enabling SMEs in South Florida and beyond to lock down the dollars they need, right when they need it. 

Founded in 2020, Boops has developed a digital platform to provide eCommerce and SaaS businesses with non-dilutive, revenue-based financing. The company differentiates itself in three ways. First, speed: entrepreneurs can get pre-approved within 48 hours and funded within 7 days. Second, reduced risk: no personal guarantees or dilution. Third, maximum flexibility: entrepreneurs pay a percentage of revenues until their return cap is reached. This round of funding will enable the company to further develop their platform, expand their team, and ensure they have sufficient funding to lend.

LG Electronics Launches NFT Platform, Lets Users Buy And Sell Digital Artwork

LG Electronics said on Sunday that it has released its non-fungible token (NFT) platform LG Art Lab, which lets users discover, buy, sell and trade NFTs on LG’s smart TVs. The announcement comes roughly eight months after LG Electronics said at its press conference that it plans to incorporate NFT features into its smart TV. The platform is now available in the U.S. only to those with LG TV running webOS 5.0 or later and is accessible directly from the home screen. LG Electronics partnered with the Hedera network to offer an app that enables users to purchase NFTs via Wallypto, LG’s crypto wallet for smartphones. The NFT platform provides a Drops feature that profiles artists and shows their new artwork previews. Its real-time Live Drops feature gives notifications to help users acquire a dropped NFT to ensure they do not miss an opportunity.

DALL-E Helps You Imagine What's Outside The Frame Of Famous Paintings

OpenAI has added a new “outpainting” function to its text-to-image AI model DALL-E that lets the system generate new visuals that expand the borders of any given picture. In the example above, you can see how DALL-E, with the help of human prompting, “imagines” what’s outside the frame of Johannes Vermeer’s portrait “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” Note, how, even from the limited information provided by the portrait, the system is able to match Vermeer’s style, mimicking the shadows and highlights of the original. From a broader perspective, outpainting doesn’t really expand the basic functionality of text-to-image AI systems, but it does show how OpenAI will likely position itself in the growing market for these systems: by making usability a key pitch to customers. Making outpainting as easy as possible will help DALL-E differentiate itself from the growing competition of smaller but comparable systems like Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.

Claim Of TikTok Breach Spotlights Viral App's Lure As Target

TikTok, the short-video sensation that’s among the world’s most downloaded apps, is coming under increased scrutiny about its data security as it guards the personal information of over a billion users. On Monday, several cybersecurity analysts tweeted about the discovery of what was purportedly a breach of an insecure server that allowed access to TikTok’s storage, which they believe contained personal user data. ByteDance Ltd.’s TikTok surpassed a billion monthly users a year ago and now ranks as many young people’s favorite app. That makes it an enticing target for hackers who may seek to hijack popular accounts or resell sensitive information. However inconclusive or small the issues may be, there will be intense focus on TikTok and its parent firm at a time when the US may step up its measures against businesses with links to China. In June, nine US senators wrote a public letter to TikTok’s chief executive officer asking him to explain alleged security breaches.
