As an international finance and consulting executive, Jairo Riveros is used to moving around a lot. Some adaptations are easier than others – whether it’s learning a new language or getting used to a new climate. But one task Riveros always found particularly vexing: managing money across borders. That is why Riveros got excited when he first came across British startup Paysend, which is building a more efficient system for cross-border and local payments. The company has since raised upwards of $150 million in funding. In 2020, Riveros doubled down on Paysend, taking on the role of CSO and managing director of North America and LATAM. Driving the news: "[Elon Musk] it's TIME to move @twitter headquarters to Miami. It's not about politics, it's about the soul of our country," Suarez tweeted. The invitation comes after Musk expressed frustrations over San Fransisco, where Twitter is headquartered, after city officials started investigating reports that the social media giant had set up sleeping quarters for employees. " Suarez has been ambitious in trying to lure Big Tech to his city and he has been in communication with leaders of several tech companies. Suarez earlier this year invited Twitter to move to Miami because it's a "global city," the Los Angeles Times reports.

Founders Fund Leads Miami Game Developer's $2.3M Investment Round
A Miami startup that is simplifying game development for independent creators is growing its global team after securing $2.3 million in pre-seed funding. Led by venture capital firm Founders Fund, the capital will help The Mirror expand its team of engineers and strengthen the brand within the video game industry. The all-in-one gaming and development platform makes it possible for developers of any skill level to build virtual worlds and multiplayer games with collaborators, said founder and CEO Jared McCluskey. Game developers, including people with no coding experience, can build games and then distribute them on The Mirror's platform. That makes it easier for independent and 3D creators to collaborate, share and monetize their games, the company reports. The Mirror is building its platform on the Godot game engine, a free open source platform for 2D and 3D creators.
