eMerge Americas Launches Its Inaugural Edition of eMerge Magazine
|
On Monday, April 18, during the eMerge America conference, the organization launched its inaugural eMerge Magazine issue with its publishing partner, Havas House. "Our new publication will celebrate Miami's burgeoning and diverse tech ecosystem while continuing to highlight all the valuable data and insights our followers and supporters have come to expect from us," noted Melissa Medina, president of eMerge Americas. But the Miami tech industry story goes beyond what facts and figures can tell. It's a story about the entire innovation ecosystem — entrepreneurs, investors, academia, corporate and government leaders working together to achieve a common goal. A story where creativity and grit combine to elevate tech offerings. A story where fledgling businesses are given the support needed to thrive, scale and succeed.

Miami Startup Fundraising Remains At Elevated Levels
|
At Crunchbase News, we’ve been following growth in funding to Florida’s startup scene, which has been expanding for a few years and picked up momentum during the pandemic. Miami in particular was a trendy hot spot, as remote workers and investors, untethered from their old commutes, flocked to this famously humid, beachy and multicultural metro. Funding has followed. In 2021, Miami-headquartered companies raised a record $2.6 billion across more than 150 disclosed-size seed through late-stage rounds. The pace looks to be accelerating in 2022, with over $1 billion invested across at least 67 disclosed rounds. Looking at recently funded Miami companies, one standout observation is that they skew heavily to the crypto/NFT/blockchain/metaverse sphere. There’s also a heavy dose of fintech in the mix. Deep tech is less pervasive, and given that Miami isn’t a major technology company headquarters town, this isn’t entirely surprising.

But this Hiring Fair was more than double the size, featuring local tech startups like Kaseya, Tradestation, Chewy and SwagUp, alongside familiar corporate favorites like Microsoft and Amazon, all with hundreds of openings available for Miami talent looking to fill them.
