American Inno Releases Their Top 40 Startups To Watch
Innovation happens everywhere. Cities like San Francisco, Boston and New York remain the heavyweights when it comes to startups and venture capital, but those markets are hardly the only places you can build a high-growth tech firm. Cities like Los Angeles, Austin, Seattle, Miami, Chicago and numerous others have proven their startup chops, establishing fertile startup ecosystems and the ability to catch the eye of big tech firms looking to expand. As AOL co-founder Steve Case recently told American Inno in an interview, it's "not just one or two or three cities on the rise. It really is several dozen cities on the rise."

Neocis Raises $40M To Transform Dental Surgery With Robotics
Miami-based Neocis has become the leader in dental implant surgery and its Yomi robotic surgical system has been used to place more than 20,000 implants. Let’s put that number in perspective: Just seven months ago, the number of Yomi-directed implants stood at 10,000. To continue fueling that growth, Neocis announced the company has completed its latest round of financing, an oversubscribed $40 million round. The round was led by a large specialist investor in the dental industry and joined by Intuitive Ventures. Existing investors DFJ Growth, Vivo Capital, Mithril Capital Management, Norwest Venture Partners and medical technology entrepreneur Fred Moll also participated in the round.

How Elon Musk Could Put More Crypto Into Twitter
After months of dramatic back-and-forth, Elon Musk has taken control of Twitter Inc., igniting emotions ranging from hope to anxiety among users who are bracing themselves for how the billionaire will put his stamp on the social-media platform. Crypto Twitter is no exception. In putting together the Twitter acquisition, Musk has seemed to waver on his commitment to crypto. Binance Holdings Ltd., the world’s largest digital-asset exchange, committed $500 million to Musk’s financing for the deal in May and is reportedly building a team focused on exploring how crypto could be useful to the social media company. In a trove of text messages released as part of litigation over the Twitter deal, Musk initially discussed using blockchain to promote free speech and reduce spam on social media, only to write later that “blockchain Twitter isn’t possible.”

Why 'Generative AI' Is Suddenly On Everyone's Lips
If you’ve been closely following the progress of Open AI, the company run by Sam Altman whose neural nets can now write original text and create original pictures with astonishing ease and speed, you might just skip this piece. If, on the other hand, you’ve only been vaguely paying attention to the company’s progress and the increasing traction that other so-called “generative” AI companies are suddenly gaining and want to better understand why, you might benefit from this interview with James Currier, a five-time founder and now venture investor who co-founded the firm NFX five years ago with several of his serial founder friends. Currier falls into the camp of people following the progress closely — so closely that NFX has made numerous related investments in “generative tech” as he describes it, and it’s garnering more of the team’s attention every month. In fact, Currier doesn’t think the buzz about this new wrinkle on AI isn’t hype so much as a realization that the broader startup world is suddenly facing a very big opportunity for the first time in a long time.
