Kaseya To Create 3,400 Tech Jobs In Miami-Dade Paying An Average Of $107K
Kaseya, a global tech company headquartered in Miami, is committing to creating 3,400 full-time jobs over the next three years in Miami-Dade County. Those jobs will pay an average annual salary of $107,000. For that, the company will be awarded up to $4.56 million in performance-based economic incentives, the single largest incentive package from Miami Dade Beacon Council, and the largest tech job creation project Miami-Dade County has supported. Kaseya, currently with over 4,000 employees worldwide in 15 offices serving 45,000 customers, is a global provider of IT management and security software for managed service providers, small to mid-size business and mid-market enterprises. It also reached “unicorn” status after a $500 million venture capital round in 2019. The new jobs would more than quadruple Kasea’s Miami area workforce now. With this commitment to 3,400 new direct jobs over the next three years, Kaseya’s current footprint in Miami-Dade County will grow past 4,200 jobs, making it one of the region’s largest employers.

Kiwibot Secures $10 Million To Grow Fleet Of Autonomous Delivery Robots
If you haven't seen an autonomous delivery robot yet, you probably will soon. Kiwibot will massively scale its fleet of last-mile delivery robots after entering a $10 million financing partnership with Kineo Finance, an asset financing group headquartered in Switzerland. The Miami startup, which currently has 540 robots, aims to manufacture thousands more over the next 18 months. Founded in 2017, Kiwibot's autonomous robots delivers restaurant meals at 28 college campuses across the U.S. The robots use GPS technology, camera sensors and artificial intelligence to generate optimal routes and avoid obstacles on its path. It's also a more environmentally friendly option than receiving deliveries from gas-powered vehicles. Kiwibot's small, electric-powered robots have carried out 200,000 zero-emission deliveries, avoiding more than 53,000 miles of car trips and unnecessary traffic congestion.

Coinbase Launches Blockchain Base To Help Developers Build DApps On-chain
Coinbase, the second largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has launched Base, an Ethereum-focused layer-2 (L2) blockchain, Jesse Pollak, lead for Base and head of protocols at Coinbase, told TechCrunch. In the past, Coinbase has homed in on the trading and exchange side of its business, but from the utility perspective, it’s still too hard for developers to build useful decentralized applications (dApps) and for users to actually use those things on-chain, Pollak said. In an effort to expand further into the developer space, Coinbase is building Base to make it “dead easy” for developers to build dApps and for users to access those dApps through Coinbase products, Pollak said. “Our goal is to bring about phase 4 of Coinbase’s master plan: to bring a billion users into the crypto economy.”

It’s All About Building A Community Of Innovators For Huddle
Getting work from traditional gig platforms is not always the right option for startups. It is hard to know exactly the quality of a freelancer’s work before they deliver, and too often than not the quality leaves something to be desired. What’s more, many startups are looking for a partner – someone that has a vested interest in the company’s success – but are unable to onboard a full-time employee. Enter Miami startup Huddle. The company has devised a two-sided marketplace connecting top talent with some of the most exciting startups out there. Crucially, Huddle’s team vets each and every freelancer and startup before they are accepted onto the platform. Another key difference between Huddle and other platforms is that it allows freelancers to take equity in their client’s business in exchange for work completed. (This is in addition to traditional payments, or accepting a mix of equity and cash.) So far, Huddle members have earned $1.2 million in cash and $55,000 in equity.

Coke Joins AI Hype Train In Search For Next-Gen Creative Capabilities
Coca-Cola is the first marketer to take advantage of a new partnership between management consultancy Bain & Company and OpenAI, the developer of artificial intelligence (AI) software like ChatGPT, according to a press release. Coke will leverage tools like ChatGPT and DALL.E, a digital image generator built on deep learning, to enhance its marketing and improve operations. Potential use cases for brand marketers highlighted in the announcement include more personalized advertising copy and targeted messaging. Zack Kass, OpenAI’s head of go-to-market products, said in a statement that Coke’s strategy with AI is the “most ambitious” his firm has yet seen from a consumer goods company. AI has quickly risen to be one of the most-watched technologies in marketing this year, though ethical and implementation questions remain.

Spotify Launches ‘DJ,’ New AI-Powered Commentary Feature
Spotify launched a new AI feature called “DJ” to better personalize the music listening experience for its users. Similar to a radio DJ, Spotify’s DJ feature will deliver a curated selection of music alongside AI-powered spoken commentary about the tracks and artists you like, using what Spotify says is a “stunningly realistic voice.” The idea is for Spotify to get to know users so well that the DJ can choose what to play for you when you hit the button. Or, as Spotify says, it’s putting an “AI DJ in your pocket.” More broadly, the feature has the potential to turn Spotify into a lean-back, passive experience for those times users don’t feel like dictating to Spotify what to stream next or fumbling around with its interface to find a playlist they like. The OpenAI-powered feature is still in beta testing as of the launch and is only available in English for Spotify Premium subscribers in the U.S. and Canada for the time being.
